Very nice. You can get a "remote switching system" from Greddy that allows you to switch from low to high, or scramble boost with a steering wheel/shifter mounted button.

What I would do is turn the start point of the meth up to 11psi. Then set the low boost setting to 9-10psi, and the high boost to 12-13. Come out of the hole on 10psi, the second youre on the move and established, hit the button. Boost jumps to 13 and meth starts spraying.

Biggest hurdle will be getting the AFR's perfect at 10psi off meth and at 13psi on meth. It will most likely take a few meth nozzle changes to get it right, but that would get you real close to a 9 second pass without much change from where you're at now.

^^Great idea. I wonder how far you could push it on pump gas + meth before making the switch to race gas? (in terms of psi). Also, snow performance sells something called nitro booster which is just straight nitromethane in a very expensive container ($30/8oz.) and I wonder how much of a difference that would make as well. They suggest 8oz per 32oz of 50/50 water/meth mixture.

Depends on static compression, intake temps, turbo size etc. I think on Rob's truck you can most likely get away with 12-14psi without meth. The downfall is that his dizzy is locked out, so there's no way to pull timing at peak torque, or add some on the top end. That means you have to be conservative to prevent knock and give up some power. That's where the meth comes in and helps keep her happy.

If you plan to go the nitro route, you might as well just buy it in bulk. Snow over charges for all that stuff cause people don't know you can just go buy it. Like their pre-mixed meth (boost juice). What a rip.

My best example is pricing on meth. Everyone out there swears that -40 windshield washer fluid is the cheapest and best way to go. That's only semi-true.

1 gallon of washer fluid at a gas station or Pep-Boys is about $3.
For 5 gallons of pre-mixed washer fluid you pay $15.... ratio is unknown and water quality is unknown.

5 gallons of 99.9% pure automotive quality VP M1 meth is $35.
5 gallons of pure distilled water is $5

Mixed 50/50 it makes 10 gallons and costs $40. So the same 5 gallons is $20.
Ratio is exact, and water quality is A1. No need to worry about calcium build up, iron oxide deposits, or any other nasty engine-killing chemical being sprayed into your motor.

For the $5 difference, I'll take the piece of mind knowing exactly what I'm trusting my engines life with.

If anyone wants VP M1, I have two 5 gallon pails in stock. 10 gallons of mixed meth should last most people an entire season.

good to know, true my timing is locked out, the crane HI-6R has proportional retard, i have it set to pull 1 degree per psi, it can go up to 5 per psi or you can leave it at zero, i'm not sure if it can be turned down so it's fractional or not. whether this helps or not i don't know, input Alex?

Pulling timing per psi works, and the way you've set it up is fine. The meth should take care of whatever little possible knock there is.

Yeah when I was buying the methanol I was lucky to have a hookup at the local McLane industries place, I bought a 4-gallon box of them for cheap, 20 or 25 bucks maybe?

I bought the nitro through worldwide racing fuels because the guy from snow told me that the nitro booster was just straight nitro lol. Much cheaper to mix it yourself!

I think I have a couple gals of nitro somewhere so I'm still looking for that next time I head to my rents dag. We'll see what I can find.

Yes, 9's, the truck should be capable of it with tuning, i suck with carbs though, im running 50cc pumps and a .050 squirter in the front and it still stumbles when i nail it down lower in the rpm. Meth is all set to be tuned, will be talking to alex next week if hes back so i can get all systems working then its track time

Yeah the rear mount system is pretty neat. Doesn't work well for engines that produce low cfm of exhaust--his engine produces plenty so it works pretty well to spool the turbo.

Definitely fix the tuning issues sooner rather than later, otherwise you'll be pulling that engine apart again. I'd love to get a ride in it this year!
