The trans expired today, if I go easy I can drive it in second but third gear is toast, something expired in a glorious for of rage while beating on it today, next week I'm going to try to get it out and see what failed. Bummed but I built it at least 6 years ago so I've gotten my money out of it. Pics to come next week.

8 element intermediate sprag failure, amazing it lasted as long as it did, upgraded to the 34 element sprag, should last forever.

i'm sure you will, going to try to get it on some stands this week to adress the smoking issue and starter binding, the exhaust manifold gaskets and it's track time

Put the truck on stands around 1230 this morning to take off my wastegate. I had boost issues the only time i ran at the track at the end of the season. Boost would spike after shifting into 3rd gear causing issues, on low boost there was no problem so i surmised the problem is the valve failing to open fully, upon tear down there was sufficient carbon and very light rust buildup causing the valve to bind beyond say 30% open. Took a light scotchbrite pad to it and aome wd40 and full range returned. Should be all it needed for a return this spring, looking forward to some track time, one day of racin in two seasons sucked.
Wastegate is a 50mm HKS knockoff with authentic hks diaphram, 7 years of use and this has been the only issue, granted it is rear mounted.
Cant wait to take the beast back out on the road.

Seriously thinking about going next wednesday night, been a very long time since ive been ready in april, the result of racing once in the past two years is a truck that should be ready to go with very minimal work. Top off the fluids, throw some warm clothes on and see what happens.

Sent the turbo out for the Nova, hoping to have that back in a couple weeks, replaced the head gasket and am working on an external wastegate setup. Looking forward to many miles and shows with it this year.

I want to get to the track a lot this year, just spectating though. Unfortunately I can't go Wednesday without taking time off of work . Will have to bounce between the track and target on Fridays.
