Charity Meet for the Family of Josh Tate

On April 1st, a buddy of mine, Josh Tate, was killed in a car accident in Merrimack. He hit 3 cars,1 being a van, the other being a car, and then a truck. He crossed the double yellow line and headed almost straight for them. We still don't know what the cause was, maybe falling asleep at the wheel maybe something else but we don't know.

Josh is a very close friend of mine and I had called JJ and we talked for about 20 minutes, and I would like to try to get a charity going for his family to help support the costs for everything.

Maybe have a charity car show(He was into cars/trucks) maybe attempt to rent a lot or something and have a car show in his honor and charge money to enter with all the proceeds going to his family.

Can we please try to do this for a friend? I know for a fact that most of the MST (Automotive people) and others from my school would definitly help out alot.

i was talking to someone about this and they mentioned maybe doing a scholarship in his name for students who are looking to go to college for collision repair

I guess I am talking to MR. A, tomorrow about holding the show itself in the schools parking lot.. cause its fairly big, and plenty of parking. Maybe we could get some car clubs in the area and have them come as well, sell drinks, grill some food and have a great time.. you know?

I will get some details tomorrow about everything. Obviously doing it when its a bit warmer out as well.

Well.. I just got done talking to the Principal of my school and he is all for the idea. Only thing is tonight, I am going to talk to the family about the idea, and get there permission to do this.

But what I can say is that if we do this..

We need someone who is older and responsible to help with the event..

We would need to hire a police officer, to watch over us and everything. But my mom works for the police dept. so I am going to talk to her and maybe to the state trooper in my neighborhood about maybe donating his time to watch over us and keep order!

Trash, I will be going to wal-mart and buying a few trash cans and bags and I will take responsibility by picking up any trash on the ground still. But please try to keep the parking lot clean as much as possible.

Food, I talked to Intervention today as well and maybe he can provide us with some burgers and such, We would provide the drinks as well. We would sell the burgers in order to make some extra money of course for the family.

Money, We would charge 5 dollars a car to enter into the car show. 5 or 10 dollars per person to get in and check everything out walk around enjoy the presents of others and all around be there for Josh's family.

Things we would need though, obviously be tables, chairs, someone to get a locking box, someone to look over the enterance. But I mean I talked to my Principal and he definitly likes the idea. I am just going to speak with the parents tonight at the wake about everything then will let everyone know.

good to know its actually going into effect man, this kid definatly deserves this.

my grandmother also works for the PD if you need anymore help with that i'm assuming you've got it all under control too.

my mom works for the fire department too if we need any sort of assistance from that i'm sure we could get some firefighters for it.

i can even ask my parents if they'd be willing to help.

sounds like you've got a lot planned out dan which is good. charging for car show entries is good, but it's going to be real hard to keep a lock down on kids entering and leaving the premises without anyone catching it ya know. i think charging kids to get in and see isn't going to go too well because of the open nature of the area.
