i thought anti lag was a totally different thing to keep the turbo spooled between shifts... by like adding another spark and running hella rich before the turbo. it makes a terrible noise but it holds boost between shifts by pretty much destroying the turbo...

i thought this was called launch control or something like that

thats full throttle shift Anti Lag, it doesnt ad another spark it retard iginition timing A LOT, also it doesnt run hell rich about 5-10% more fuel is what helps boost built in my car, just like when the car is running there is a good a/f ratio to help the fuel burn the fastest/most efficiently in the exhaust manifold/turbine wheel.

this is launch control(or full throttle launch) anti-lag

how all anti-lags work is the ECU inject more fuel at a set point/condition of driving, but instead of setting off the spark so the fuel burn inside of the combustion chamber it ignites the fuel much much later. the fuel starts to burn when the exhaust valves are fully open. no power is used to turn the crank shaft but the fuel burning goes into the exhaust manifold and spins the turbo even though there is no load on the engine(thus keeping boost up) and also flames poping

the reason its bad for the turbo, manifold, and especially exhaust valves, is because those components arent designed to function under such high heat of the fuel burning, normally they deal with whats left after the burn.

antilag while launching isnt that bad for the car as long as you dont bounce it on the launch control(like i did) since it doesnt happen every single time you shift

hope that helps you understand it a bit

there are other alternatives to setting up antilag this way also....there are system that mix fuel and spark directly before the turbo as opposed to the retarded timing either way its terrible for your turbo and manifold

It is bad for your turbo, but not your manifold.

Its not good for your valves

tephra nlts (no lift to shift) works awsome too. holds your boost between gears and you dont let up on the gas and it only drops your rpms down by a few hundred each shift. stock clutch doesnt appreciate it tho

You guys don't powershift your cars? Doing that i doubt you would lose boost seeing as your on the throttle shifting.
