It's a 2L.. but it's manual, xwd, and has maptun coilovers on it.
(If it's got maptun parts, the P/O cared for the car, as there are many cheaper options for the SS)
I'm hesitant about these because I'm not familiar with them in the least bit. The near collapse of the Saab brand doesn't give me warm fuzzy feelings either. I'm worried about part availability and repair knowledge if I ever have to take it to a shop for anything.

My advice; drive it. If you like how it feels, look into it.
If not, check it off the list, and don't look back.

parts are readily available since Saab parts never closed. aftermarket is also readily available, since a LOT of parts are standard GM partsbin.
The 2L is a turbo ecotec that GM has used in plenty of cars, including the buick regal and cobalt.
the 2.8L is a Cadillac engine now. almost any part for either engine can be had at any GM dealership. If not, rockauto, autopartswarehouse, eeuroparts or FCPEuro have whatever you need.

If you like the "feel", but not the 4-cyl, there are AWD aeros, too.
Sean just got a FWD aero for 9.5K, which is very reasonable. AWD are a couple grand more.
In general, the Aero interior is a big upgrade from the arc/linear. I'd be willing to bet that the v6 feels MUCH smoother than the I4, too. Either way, you'll get a LOT more for your $$ with a saab over most brands, partly because GM shut 'em down. people don't realize how much is standard GM crap, though.

Anyways, I'm not trying to tell you to BUY the car, but it's an option a LOT of people don't consider. Drive it.. see how it goes. Just consider that, when you test drive a car, whomever is selling it likely didn't put 93 in it. In either engine, you're talking about a huge change in feel. I had test driven a couple 9-5s, and they felt like absolute turds because the owners put 87 in, and it adapted down to base boost. (185-ish HP vs 250)

here's a couple AWD that aren't far from you:

gary blake might be your best bet. they're close and will likely have different trims for you to check out.

That AWD aero in Berwick looks pretty damn sexy. It's exactly what I'll be looking for when the wagon dies.

Also,(if you can find one nearby)consider the Saab 9-3 Viggen. Scorching performance for the money.

I already have one torque-steering fwd car. Don't particularly want another.

" What does "torque apportion up to 100% to the axle with traction" mean? Imagine the same Subaru Legacy MT with 50/50 split "under normal conditions". Now imagine the rear wheels are on ice, on rollers, or being raised in the air. If you press the accelerator pedal, the rear wheels will attempt to spin without meeting any resistance. Because there is no resistance, the torque that is applied to the rear wheels is close to zero. The Subaru that we are using in the example has a viscous coupling locking center differential. The viscous coupling heats up and locks the center differential. This prevents the rear wheels from spinning, and transfers engine torque to the front wheels. When rear wheels are in the air, and we assume that the viscous coupling locks fully, 0% of the available engine torque goes to the rear, and 100% of the available torque goes to the front wheels. This is what we mean when we say "torque apportion up to 100%". This Subarus' "default" torque split is 50/50, but torque can be transferred in the range from 100/0 to 0/100 front to rear, depending on which axle loses traction. "

Maybe, but that's only TEMPORARY,until the vehicle starts gaining traction. Let's see it handle all the torque FULLTIME,like a FWD vehicle..
