You can see what I've done, swaintech + DEI Ti + heat shield + undertray. I've been happy with it so far. I could go for it being a little better, but that'll probably involve more heat shields.

Hood risers on most cars are stupid since the cowl area is normally a high pressure area (which is why cowl induction hoods work).

DEI Reflect-A-Gold. This stuff must be made of unicorn tears and rainbows, put some on the back of my turbo heat shield and temps dropped significantly.

After a long drive or high speed run my Fiat has a oil pump that sends oil to lubricate the bearings in the turbo after the engine is shut off. Usually it runs for about a couples of minutes or until the computer senses it has cooled down enough.

That seems wholly unnecessary in this day and age of water cooled modern turbos. And who does a top speed run an immediately shuts the car off anyways.

That is odd; the GTi has a secondary electric waterpump that serves the same purpose.

You can do a lot to keep things cool: wrapping parts, blankets, hood spacers, hood vents, new air ducts, hood scoops, and probably a few other things.

Hood spacers dont keep anything cool. The cowl area on almost all cars is a high pressure zone, so no air is going to be escaping from under the hood there. If anything you're going to make then engine hotter by making the radiator less effective with hood risers. Doing real hood vents located in a low pressure area on the hood does work.

The thing is the Abarth's Garrett turbocharger isn't watercooled.

Those damn Italians, always making stuff complicated for no reason. Its gonna suck when that pump goes out just after warranty only to find out its a dealer only option, has to be shipped here from europe, and costs $800. And from then on it goes out every 10k miles for some reason.

Actually nowadays the Fiat 500s we get here in the U.S. are built in Chrysler's factory in Toluca,Mexico. This same factory used to build Chrysler Sebring convertibles and PT Cruisers. The engines for Fiats are built at a Chrysler factory in Dundee,Michigan. For the most part, the car is Italian only by name. The ones built in Europe aren't even built in Italy-they're built in Poland!lol

So far after 1 1/2 years(and 33K miles of ownership),I've had no major issues with the car. The only big thing was a daytime running light failed, and that was covered under warranty.
