      hmmm.. post # 2 ?

Just dropped my pan , mine is still in tacked . Found I spun a bearing , at a minimum I will be replacing , not worth the risk. And not as many accounts in the forester as as others but I would rather change it , get something fresh in there . If I can swing the cash ill get the KB but I got crack the block and do the rings, turn the crank , head gaskets/ studs , timing belt kit .

I'm just glad mine didn't actually crack .

Not even worth turning the crank . A brand new nitrated 08 crank is $350

Also you will need to tear down the heads and clean all the debri out of them . I bet the cam bearing surfaces are all scored.

LMK if you need my help. I take it your brother is going to help you out on this ?

The machine shop said that it may be cheaper to get a crank , I tried calling you. There was no debris in the bottom of the pan was all just in the baffles . But we will be cleaning everything and checking everything.

Yea, I can't really afford to not do it my self, I don't know when we will do it have to find some money somewhere .

You just drop the pan and unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. Just have the unbolt the motor mounts and lift the motor 2-3 inches cause the pan is wedged between the subframe and headers. Some people pull the header off..... not sure why. Not smart enough to lift the motor I guess .

So if you paid someone to do it. I would say the price of an oil change and 1hr labor . Something like that.
