Work done on a 1999 Honda Civic EX, non v-tec, Lower manifold flange finally rotted off, drew up the flange design on auto cad and cut it out on the plasma table. Removed the lower pipe ground off the original rust and installed the new flange. Flange TIG welded on. Replaced stock rotted bolts with 5/16 hardware and some special washers. Fitup superb, no leaks. Good for another 187,000 miles.

My brother got his brand new for 2-2500 10 ton I believe, cause he needed to be able to lift an ambulance and town vehicles . Only thing was he had to pick it up in PENN or something, would have cost another 2g to deliver it or something.

that picture in general scares me.

Being a unibody.. those frame rails are not suitable jacking points.

Using the pinch weld under the door is a good way to bend/fold it over and start rust there (which is what killed my RX7 before I even got a hold of it) Once you have rust there, the car is almost always a throw away. Looks like the pinch welds on this car have already seen better days.

I do like the computer plasma cut flange. Thats a nice peice of machinery I wish I had access to.

I call it a pinch weld.. what do you call it?

Its the only semi structural part on most unibody cars that I can think of in that area. It is used for the jacking point on most newer cars, but without a proper jack/accessory most people fold it over and rust starts forming there
