Nope, or at least not without a ton of fabrication. The REPU has a reciprocating ball system, not rack and pinion.

This weekend I followed the shop manual to adjust the play in the steering box. I haven't taken it on the highway yet but around town a good deal of the slop is gone. That'll probably keep me happy for a while, but I would like to try an 80's B2000 box some day. I don't know if it is a faster ratio though, and I can't find information anywhere about it.

You could make a side branch resonator to cancel out that dron frequency if you know what it is. Real easy to do, google it.

I agree on manual steering, but mines going to get power as soon as a set of 275 hoosiers get mounted to it.

Thanks, maybe I'll look that up when the time comes. I assume the freq will change when I street port the motor.

Occasionally I regret putting the muffler on, but then I cruise at 35mph in 4th gear and I can hear the drone come back. Basically the muffler silenced the drone between 2500-3500rpm. Below 2500 with enough throttle and it will still drone. At least at 35mph I can stay in 3rd which is about 3000 rpm, inside the safe drone-free zone.

On an unrelated note, I put a full gas tank of highway miles on it going between 70-75 mph. 14.4 mpg. Not bad for 37 year old wankel.

late to the game... I think I've come across you in the MS6 on 495 a couple times.
I don't remember if I was in the 850, 9-3, or 9-5, but I do remember that you had zero interest in sprited driving...

Hah hah, that was me then. I usually set the cruise control at 70 and crank the music and zone out. I probably thought you were some yuppie on his car phone driving a Saab.

I challenge myself to keep cruise control on for as long as possible. It's a long commute to Waltham. I once made it the whole way (including the merge onto 128). Anyway, I got nabbed merging onto I-90 at 90 mph a few years ago. It's so easy to get in trouble in the MS6 that I basically have to set the cruise control to keep my speed from creeping up.

I got the MS6 back from the dealer today after repairing the A/C. It still isn't as cold as I would like but I'll see how it does over the next few hot days. What a difference going from the REPU that has maybe 120hp to the MS6 with 273hp. It's like having a new car all over again.
