Wanted ---> MR2 Turbo

I also looked at that one on CL, I am not familiar enough with them to trust myself looking at something like that. Please let me know what the deal with it is after you look at it. If it checks out to you but you dont want it, I may jump on it.

Oh and my Boxster is gone, I sold that a few months back. I wanted the liquid money for when I replace the Supra with something else.


Im becoming quite discouraged in my MR2 search though. Seems like all the good running cars are far away, and $7,000 + dollars. I was hoping to find one around 4 lol. Im probobly just not being realistic, I thought they were cheaper than this in general. Looks like all the N/A MR2's out there for cheap made it seem like the turbo ones were cheaper too.

i can help out with the search if you want. around 4k isnt necessarily impossible. you can definately find a decent stock one you just gotta be real patient. i know a LOT of MR2 turbo's that are for sale. locally there isnt too many.

the one in merrimack is a nice car, but the body kit is terrible and the price is a bit high for it being stock.

do you have any definate specifics that you are looking for? or just it being a t-top turbo?

all turbo's are 5 speeds so no worries there. ttop is more common too. they are rarely rusted or rotted out. what are your plans with it? just cruising here and there or any aspirations to track the car? i could definately find you what your looking for

and yes, it always seems like the turbo's were cheaper because of the n/a's but the price is only going up on the turbo's. original ones are getting harder to find too especially in good shape. but if your considering up to 10k you can definately get a very nice car with some good upgrades too.

No preference in colors and options as long as its an original turbo with T tops. Its just going to be a driving car, no tracking, no heavily modifying, no drag racing. Just some fun bolt ons and commuting to work everyday.

10k is more than I want to spend though, I already have one overpriced old Toyota I dont need another lol. I think I've decided to set a budget of under 5K.

5k is definately doable. you can easily make 300whp with basic bolt ons. i was just throwing a number out there as i didnt know what your budget was lol

like jon said though, the mr2oc etc. is a great place to look too. and if your just looking for a regular mr2 turbo, i could probably find you a few. ill see how local i can find them. shouldnt be tooo too hard to find one

I dont mind traveling probobly up to 200 miles each way for a good clean deal. See what you can find ;-)

ya it might take a few days for bill to check you out and get ya on. i know it took Jon quite a few days to get access. i just went on and looked and im wondering if they did some cleaning in the classifieds??? theres only like 25 turbo's for sale on there... some of which are already sold... the rest are more than 5k, and the ones that arent, are not local... hmmm...

another thing to is to talk to some of the mr2 vendors and see what they have/or can get. i gave Jon the recommendation to Ty saxon (TCS Motorsports) because he is constantly buying and selling... ill ask around a bit to see. Pr1me performance may have something too

for somewhat local hot spots... upstate new york always seems to have a TON in the area... and around Philadelphia too... or like i said.. ship from Cali... lol theres plenty to go around there..

Tim. I'm on at least 4 hot leads now for cars. I'll send you all I have, minus the one I buy. There is one particular one in KY that I know if...that is going to be amazing. You're gonna have to plan on spending almost 7k though.

Like you, I went into this thinking these were not that expensive...and we're both wrong haha. But I'm finding for between 6 and 8k, you can get a pretty nasty MR2

Im actually working on one for 3k right now, original turbo, fair condition.

I will let everyone know how it goes If the profit margin is good enough I might even flip it instead of keeping it. I think the owner doesnt really know the value of the car.
