So I recently had my truck tuned and thought I should post up my official review...
First off, this guy sneaks up on me on the side of my truck and just gets in (not exactly the best first impression). I’m like, “I never even invited you in”. Then he pulls out his “cord” and says he's looking for a place to “plug it in”…
Seriously though, I met up with Steve (kidcrash603) at his place for a flash tune on my 04 Tahoe. After introducing ourselves, he hopped in and got right to work. I had no idea what he was doing so I tried making intelligent small-talk, and Steve was cool enough to oblige with the occasional head-nod. Luckily, where I had been having head-smashing difficulty with posting pictures on the site, Shawn (Boosted Euro) had stopped by for a “two-fer”, and help me getting forum educated. Shawn got in, Steve got the baseline loaded, and we took it for a spin. I felt an immediate difference in low-end torque and it wasn’t granny shift like it used to. We took the truck out on 93 to open it up and, while Steve and Shawn were “waiting for the turbos to spool”, I was very happy with the response even in the higher RPM range, and the pull all the way to about 80. We finished up the testing and took it back to Steves place.
From there, we went up to Steves and Shawn gave me a lesson in using Photobucket over Flickr (because Flickr is crap). I also met Steves wife (by the way, she’s awesome Steve) who introduced me to a damn good Captains rum. All in all, it was a great night with great people. I say that because, while I went there to essentially get work done on my truck, it felt more like I was hanging out with friends. Not to take anything away from Steves professionalism; as the face of Trifecta, he was as professional as they come, and I couldn’t be happier with the tune; but he’s just a really good guy.
…you too Shawn.
As for Trifecta Performance, I don’t really know the specifics on how everything works. I had looked at three different companies, and while all were close in price, Trifecta was the only one that customizes their tune, as opposed to getting a tune in a can. With that, you seem to get more flexibility than Trifectas competitors. I chose to have my Tahoe tuned to a nice balance of: more HP, better MPG, even better shift points. The best part is, if I ever want to change something, I can go right back to Steve. Overall, I was, and am still, very happy with the tune. What's better is, Steve wants me back for a little fine tuning in warmer weather. Needless to say, I'm anxiously awaiting that warmer weather.
So...
Would I choose them again? Hell yes.
Would I recommend them? Already have.
Thanks again Steve.
...you too Shawn.
