      My friend got an 05 rx-8. He's worried about the Apex Seals as everyone he talked to said he's in for some trouble.

              from the factory, they are made from moist toilet paper i believe...
              and coolant seals go more often that apex seals.

                the trick is to stick with the stock thickness apex seals and not get the ceramic ones. like barkz already stated keep oil in them. even run a little 2 stroke to be safe.
