^^ yea.. I actually just needed this one to clear up the whole is it on ot off the camshaft . It's an explanation on what the vanos rattle is , the thing I was saying sounds like marbles in a can.

Singles Vanos is s50-s52 engine (E36) intake cam only
Double Vanos is e46 to present I believe. Intake and exhaust cam

It was interesting to learn that the dual vanos is constantly adjusting the cam angle throughout the rpm range.

Well I will never be rebuilding my own VANOS as i can't see buying a tool i will only use once or twice.

Yea, that's what I was thinking..lol. I need to do Jess's , but you can buy a rebuilt one for 4-500 . That's more the direction I'm looking. I now know why it's gotten so bad , cause someone doesn't like to keep oil in there motor
