Any shops experienced with working with engines with an Alusil bore? I'm weighing the options of either putting my S2 down for to build the bottom end or buying a motor off-hand and hoping that the bore is good so I will only need a hone. With 184K on the block and internals, I'm 98% sure I'm going to need more than a honing for the new rings.
Also need to know what the price difference will be between replating in Alusil or Nikasil if it comes down to it so I can order the right pistons & rings.
For the record: The average cost of a 3.0L engine is 3-4K off car. ~6K for super low mileage.
I have yet to find a 3.0L block, found plenty of the 2.7L block that I "could" use, but my RARST rods would not clear the sides (the head (with port matching the coolant paths), pistons and crank and externals will be a direct fit however).
