The 6 speeds are pretty rare and I'm ok with an auto dd. Traffic blows with a clutch. No wagon for me, not my style.

Fair enough, and very true about traffic. I got my first taste of it in the Volvo this morning. Thankfully the clutch is nice and light, and first gear is pretty short. Crawls along nice and slow at idle. Much easier to drive in traffic than my SHO.

Have you considered the Infinity G35/37X? A couple people I work with have them and seem to like them a lot. I'm a little jealous of their awd system - rear biased instead of front.

An un-named source sent me the original build sheet and warranty history of that white 330 I posted above. The only note-worthy points in the history are that the cylinder head was replaced and the headliner was replaced. Also, it doesn't really have the cold weather package like the owner thought (though it has all the features of the package I care about).

They had some issues with lifter noise in these engines which was mostly caused by not driving them. Before BMW found out that running them at high idle for a while would clear it up, they were trying other things. They later came out with an updated head and it looks like this car got that updated head as the replacement.

Why is the headliner note-worthy? Well this car came with the "smokers package" which consisted of the cigarette lighter and ashtray and also did not come standard. This means someone had to request it. One would assume that the original owner smoked in the car. After that owner, the headliner was replaced under warranty, the notes indicate that it was due to a noise problem. What this means now, is that the car doesn't smell like smoke (I have confirmed).

So I went to Keene today and checked it out. It's a clean car. Smooth acceleration, no vibrations or odd noises noted. The seller seems like a decent guy. He pointed out some of the flaws of the car. Some light chipping of the front bumper (normal of pretty much any car that sees highway time), some curbage of the left rear wheel, the driver's mirror doesn't like to power fold correctly (After some quick research, it seems the mirror can be "re-taught". This doesn't always solve the problem, and sometimes the mirror needs to be replaced.), and he said that one of the rear struts is blown.

He's going to meet me at HM Motor Works next Saturday for a PPI. After Haleem gives his blessing, I'll talk price with the guy. He's asking $10,995 but I think the mirror, shock, lack of cold weather package, KBB value, and NADA value are all reasons to come down on price.

We shall see how it plays out.

Not even. He said it had been too much of a hassle already. I don't know what he was talking about because all he has had to do so far was show me the cat at his work, and figure out what he owed on it.

I tried to post screenshots of the conversation but I guess it didn't work. I will get them posted in a bit.
