He had already cleared the CEL and put in some dry gas hoping that would fix it, but I could still hear it misfiring in the exhaust. The interior was very nice though. It had a couple small tears in the center console cover and a glue spot on the dash, but nothing major. The rest was in great shape. The 'free-floating' center stack was pretty neat.

But how many miles have been put on it with that missfire?. The fact that rather then looking into the problem they just put dry gas into it would worry me.

Nice car though, I was actually thinking about those before i got the Forester.

That I don't know, and I don't think the dealer does either since they bought the car at auction. He said the gas tank was nearly bone dry when they got it, so he was hoping the misfire was caused by a little water in it, hence the dry gas. They're taking it to Volvo to be fixed, so that gives me more peace of mind than if they were taking it to "their" mechanic. They also haven't had the car very long, which partly explains why they hadn't looked into it much yet. They didn't even have any pictures of it in their ad, and the options list wasn't complete either. I was pleasantly surprised when I got there.

It's not an ideal situation, but this particular car is rare enough that I'll take a little risk on it. If I change my mind about it, I don't think I'd have much trouble finding another Volvo enthusiast to sell it to. Like I said, this is the only one I've found in this color, and it's well-optioned too.

Stupid me forgot to take interior pics. It was in good shape aside from the couple things I mentioned earlier. Looks pretty much like this, but with a manual shifter and no nav on the dash (just out of frame on the right) -

The steering wheel is a little different too. I think 'mine' has the R-Design -

I got a call from Mike (owner of the dealership) this afternoon. He brought the car to Volvo where they diagnosed the misfire. It's getting two new coils and all new plugs. As soon as Volvo is done with that, he'll bring it to another shop to replace the struts, and it should be ready to go. I got him to throw some rubber floor mats into the deal as well since the originals were missing. Hopefully I can pick it up in a couple days.

cool deal, make sure they give you receipt copies of all that work with a signature saying it solved the CEL.
Now they will know why they are afraid of the dark. Now they will learn why they fear the night.

Mike called me again today. He got the car back from Volvo, and it runs much better. They did the rear brakes while it was there too. He ordered the struts which should be in later today, so I should be able to get it tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.

                    Bought it.

They ended up doing the front brakes too, so they're new all around.

Sounds good. have you been driving it in the snow?
is it as much fun as the subarus?

I picked it up in Hooksett this morning and drove through the snow all the way down to Billerica. There were spinouts everywhere, so I was taking it very easy. The only drifting I did was minimal to make sure the AWD works (it does), so I can't really compare it to the Subarus in that respect yet. It is certainly more pleasant to be in, though. And it looks better.
