    Ferrari/Lamborghini/Exotics news

interesting info on the special gizmo's on the 458 Speciale. sound is good but I think the 430 Scud still sounds better. i do like the extra accents they added to the engine bay and manifolds though. skip to 3:20 on the vid for the loud revs.

The Ferrari 458 Speciale receives a modified variant of 458’s 4.5-liter V8 engine. In this stripped out race-car for the road, it delivers a total of 597hp and 398lb-ft of torque making it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine ever produced by Ferrari. Weight reduction is a big part of the philosophy, the Speciale loses 195 kg over the standard 458 Italia at 1,290 kg. This means this menacing looking athlete will hit 100km/h from nought in under 3 seconds. Lamborghini Aventador watch out!

The Special follows on from the legendary 430 Scuderia, a car that is tipped to become a future classic. Truly game changing technologies have been incorporated into the Speciale including ‘SSC’. Side Slip angle Control performs instant-to-instant analysis of the car’s side slip, comparing it with the target value and then optimising both torque management (via integration with F1-Trac traction control) and torque distribution between the two wheels (via integration with the E-Diff electronic differential). There are also a number of ducts and flaps that adjust themselves to the cars speed and temperature to keep the car composed and stable under extreme conditions and allow the car to be driven on the limit for longer without loss of performance.

new images of the next Koenigsegg. Based off of the Agera S with a full carbon shell, weighs just over 3k lbs with all fluids and driver, 1400hp v8 they are saying it will hit 280mph. Only making six of them of course they are all sold already.

After reading this I'm more impressed by this car than the LaFerrari, 918 or the P1. Sux they probably won't ever build it. The price is one thing but I think the threat of one of the 14 radiators or electronics cool boxes failing and them burning to the ground might be a factor too. Too big to copy/paste but here are some highlights; very nice article. FYI, 860PS is 848hp.

“Just need to warm the tyres up a bit.” The words come from Mike Cross, Jaguar’s Vehicle Integrity Chief Engineer, and if we were at a standstill, they

The story of the C-X75 started when Jaguar decided to create an all-new supercar concept for the Paris motor show in 2010, to celebrate the marque’s 75th anniversary – hence the name. The concept was fitted with two Bladon Jet gas turbines, which charged an electric drivetrain, and while they never ran, Jaguar maintains that, given the will to connect everything up, it could have done.
The car was so well-received that the company decided to press ahead with development, with a view to production. The team gave itself four main goals for the hoped-for production version: first, the overall design had to be kept as close as possible to the Paris show car. Secondly, the production car’s performance should equal or better that of the Bugatti Veyron. Third, the car had to match the 89g/km CO2 emissions of the Toyota Prius. And finally, any production C-X75 had to have the same electric-only range as the Chevrolet Volt – 60km, in other words. Calling this a tall order would be a little like saying Monet was a bit handy with a paintbrush.
At its heart sits a frantic 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that revs to 10,300rpm. Bolstered by a turbo and a supercharger, the latter declutching at 6,000rpm to hand over to the nearly two-bar whack of the former, it produces an astonishing 509PS. It’d be a headline-grabber on its own, then, but it’s also been mated to a combination of two 650-volt batteries and two electric motors, which combine to produce 395PS at their peak. Jaguar says that the intention has been to build a system which offers huge power throughout the rev range; the electric motors giving instant torque from a standstill, with the supercharger offering additional low-down grunt and the turbo then coming on song for the final few thousand RPM.

The result is a total power output in excess of 860PS, though Jaguar’s cagey on exact figures. It’s only too proud, however, to point out that all of the working prototypes have met all four of the targets it set. Which, let’s face it, is not bad going at all.

This is why I like the Aventador over the Veneno/Sesto/Reventon and whatever else abortions they come out with. Crazy but still not over the edge, 50th Anniversario with enhanced aero and a few more hp and special edition paint/interior. The fact that it's red and I still like it says something.
