hey honda guys.... opinions on this car?

This little guy is on craigslist and my older brother wants to buy it. He doesn't really know cars and asked me to go look at it. I'm not a Honda guy so outside of general safety stuff I'm not sure if I should be looking for or at anything specific. Thoughts?

well first check the swap, any paperwork on it? b18c1 went from 94-01 so it could be obd1 or 2. gsr trans tend to grind 3rd or 4th. if it's real noticeable or does it every shift that could be a problem soon. check leaking from the roof. hondas tend to start rotting the quarter panels so check it thoroughly for any quick fix jobs. and if it doesn't do 0-100 in under six seconds the VTAKKKKKK isn't working.

It's right on the front of the block, easy to see. The grinding of a transmission would be more noticeable at high RPM. Would he let you do a compression test?

Paperwork to show the swap is legit would be my #1 priority with that car. Wouldn't ever want to deal with a stolen motor.

Ok I just talked to my brother. I guess he got a bit excited about getting his license back after 10 years (long story). His budget is actually around 1500, not 3k. Thanks for looking anyway guys.

Being.that he isn't a car guy, he.should stay away.from cars that are swapped. Just having to buy a new radiator hose or something becomes an issue cause who knows what.was used.

Just get a stock car that he can mod himself (with your help of course). More fun knowing you can do it yourself then trying to figure out what the previous owner did & trying to fix it/do it right. Plenty of decent hondas cheap on craigslist.

Ok, talked him into waiting a couple of weeks and getting some more money together. Also talked him out of modified vehicles. Crisis averted.
