    Snow tire selection question

I've never run snow tires before, but my insight came with a set of four on steelies. Changing them now, but I notice there are two Yokohama ice guard iG20 and two Blizzak WS-50. Treadwear is the same on all four, I'm not sure why the PO got a mixed set.

So, NE experts, would you recommend the Yokohamas or the Blizzaks for the front? I'm in the Hartford, CT area, my 30 mile commute is half two lane highway and half I-84. Both the two lane and interstate have some pretty decent ascents and descents.

    Well winter is almost over...lol

He probably bought them used or he had a full set for 1 season and didn't get an alignment . So he smoked 2 and couldn't a matching set. Or bought 4 but the store didn't have 4 in stock of the ones he wanted to he just got 2 he wanted and then a similar pair. Many reasons why he has a mismatched set.
You ain't got no chance to beat it..like a man with no hands and a one inccchhhh .

Man I hope you're right. We moved here from the Fargo area, so for us winter lasted well into April or May. I had a company provided 4x4 there, so didn't need anything with snow tires.

Think there's a dime's worth of difference between the two types?

          Try snow tires + 4x4 = heaven on wheels..lol

I'm not good with time , February is normally the end I think.. we are normally knee deep in snow before Christmas.

They both are what they call , studless snow tires . I would say it won't really matter , just use whichever one has the most tread and/or the more aggressive pattern on the front.

I went with the Blizzaks on front, they had slightly better tread, so that should bring them closer to the same when I take them off.

And you were right, One pair is from 2007 and one is from 2009, thus the different types. I noticed that on the bags when taking the tires out.

ya stuck with the blizzaks, i'd be more worried about the dip#!#!#!#!s crossin 8 lanes on 84 than the snow there.
Now they will know why they are afraid of the dark. Now they will learn why they fear the night.

Glad I could be of assistance, they should work well for you as long as there is still some good tread on there. 2 seasons on 1 and 4 on the other..? Obviously the more there worn down the worse they work. For the hell of it throw up a picture of the tread depth if you have time.

I'm usually for the snow, but not this year. I have no issues with it not snowing the rest of he winter.

No doubt. Or the ones that don't wait for the merge line, they cut across two white lines and 40' of no mans land. Those are the ones I like to wave at when we get to the next stop light.

I know people usually use pennies to show tread depth, but I'm too high roller for that. Nickels all the way!

Yea, those are good to go. The PO definitely didn't put much miles on them.
