Gotcha, Randal is great. He did my Forester motor , head on my rabbit and my 16v for the corrado.

My buddies shop Tricked out and kinetic also use Randal . Once my budy at Tricked out finishes his website he will be a vendor on here also.
You ain't got no chance to beat it..like a man with no hands and a one inccchhhh .

To pull the crankshaft the engine or transmission has to come out.

Chris, I looked up the book time on just remove and replace crankshaft and it books for 18.8 hours. Then you'd have parts cost, machine shop labor, and any other incidentals.

I'm sure you're looking at $2500-$3000 from just about anywhere.

Well.... let's get to it Chris.. only took a couple hours for the black one to spill its guts.. pull it apart at dads(garage)and bring just the bottom end to precision..

            got the whole winter anyway....

Well, I talked with Scott a bit. We'll at least get a look inside and check the damage. If the motor needs to come out, it can. It would take me about 2 to 4 hours to have the engine out and put on a stand. Maybe another couple for disassembly.

              We'll see what time brings...

The crank bolts to the flywheel.... How are going to remove the flywheel without pulling the engine and trans apart? One or the other has to come out, and I THINK both are easiest to pull with a subframe drop...

Well, since the car hasn't been looked at whatsoever, I can't 100 percent confirm the thrust bearings as the problem. Though it's a fairly obvious reason.

Anyway, we'll pull the pan, inspect, and if it has to come out, then yes, drop the swap, pull things apart, replace/machine as necessary if needed, then put get back together and get a good tune and give her the power she deserves

Guts have been dropped. Goodies looked at.. and a new crank is a possibility, and block depending on matching abilities etc...

Not sure if he's updated in here or not....

Only surface that is in need of repair, is the thrust surface. So both the crank and block should be able to be machined. So get that done, put it all back together, and go get a good tune, then enjoy the damn thing

Would it be cheaper to pick up a low-mile V6 and swap kit?

Yes and no. Depends which v6 honestly. Only one I'd care a lot for would be a 2gr swap, which would push towards 10k.

Maybe the 1mz/3mz or 3vz/5vz which are much cheaper, but much less power. The 2gr can make nearly 300 whp and equivalent torque with virtually no effort.

I would absolutely LOVE a 2gr swap one day, but I want forced induction on whatever sits under that lid... and that's a lot of coin...
