    short block engine repair

Hey guys, just looking for some inputs on a place to bring the MR2. It's been a few months and haven't even looked at the thing let alone done anything to it.

In short, the thrust washers/bearings on the crank need replacement.this will involve removing the crank and getting all associated components inspected.

I'm looking for a shop with a good amount of experience doing such a task. The engine is not remotely stock and that will need to be taken into consideration.

I do not have a place, time, or tools to do it or it would have been done already.

Any help would be more than appreciated
    Thanks
    ~Chris

Get the car to Alex, he will pull it and send the motor to precision. That's who he uses.

            Or

Lol I'd like to, I dont think engine removal is necessary exactly for thrust bearings, but I don't want to wait a year and pay thousands in labor for ten dollar parts. If Scotty or Alex isn't too booked, I'd love to get it to one of them...

ave you dropped the pan? Smoked bearing is a smoked bearing. Bearing material all in the oil going in all the oil passages. The whole motor should be gone through.

Unless the thrust bearings are different on those. My thrust bearing is just a main bearing .

the motor is going to need a going through, slapping in new bearings (in the car) is not the answer man, it will bite you in the ass

randall will fix you up but you gotta pay to play

The thrust bearings on these are in the middle. Between rod 2 and 3. The metal bits shouldn't have gone past the oil cooler and filter.

I don't mind paying to play, but a full rebuild shouldn't be necessary. Just bearing replacement and spec check on the crank.

Should be reasonably simple. A pull shouldn't be necessary.

New thrust bearings are $11.56. Lol so labor is mostly the only cost. I may upgrade to clevite thrust bearings. About 60 bucks. All depends on the specs

Has the oil filter bypass valve Been eliminated ? Cause not all the oil goes through the filter all the time. Like when you couldn't get it to move so you revd it to 6+k and dumped it so it wouldn't stall. Oil bypasses the filter to make sure enough oil gets to where it needs to be.
