where do you guys take your whip to get pampered for the once/twice a year claying and buffing?

anyone you've used that you would recommend?

anyone you've used that you would recommend NOT going to in the future?

What products do you use at home? (i'm a fan of almost everything at detailersdomain, and i'd bring my car there, but.....they're in jersey/NYC. I stay away from armor all, meguiars etc...

agreed! and his engine detail products have made magic happen on past cars.... i'm fresh out right now, and new car needs some help under the hood. Maybe G20 sleeper can help me out in springtime?

If you want the best detail/correction work see Unique Car care in the Burlington, MA area. The owner posts some impressive work on the autopia forums under the handle RickRack

Unless you need some serious correction work the DIY method is the way to go and pretty satisfying if you are OCD like me.

My normal process:

Wash:
I usually prep the wheels first, I use Sonax full effect and a brush, hose them off and then start with the body

Gilmour 2 foam sprayer /w Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II

Let that dwell and prepare a standard 2 bucket wash (Grit guard in soap bucket), I like to use a Girots garage microfiber mitt.

I use some giant Chemical Guys microfiber towels to dry. Dunno if they have a name, they are giant and blue with a silk edge.

If its time to wax ill check the paint for contaminants and clay with Adams QD and a mothers clay bar as needed.

Tires are dressed with matte black magic, Surf City Garage makes a nice dressing too.

I like Adams detail spray after the wash, I have 1 gallon jug left and really want to try the the new version. Their clay bar is nice too. I am not a fan of their wax, its not bad stuff, its just not all that special.

As far as waxes and sealants go it all depends on the paint and purpose. AutoGlym HD seems to last a long time on my GTI and has great depth that really lets the metallic in my paint shine.

For a darker car Wolfs makes a great sealant, if you want to stick with carnauba my standard is P21.

My family has been using Pauls Car Care in Manch for years. They do amazing work for what they charge. My father restores porsches and used to do muscle cars. We've also used them not only for detailing our cars and my dad's projects, but also for car appraisals and consultation in buying classic and antique cars. Pretty great guys.

thanks HM, I don't think that'd work for me, as i'd be waaay up in moultonboro and i think i'd rather just bring it somewhere and sit for a few hours, take pics of it gettin a good bath.

Seeing your in moultonboro theres a guy that does great work in your area. I forget his name though. Stop in to the irving gas station in center harbor next to red hill dairy. He used to have a sign on the wall in the office. I can ask my friends what his name is & get back to you.
