Sweet project. I love those turbos, I have bought a good amount of them from junkyards. Have you tried mounting bigger compressor sides to them? You know of anywhere to get new turbine housings for those?

My 71r setup had incredible midrange, on a 1.8T. I was making max power at 4k and about 85% peak power at 3.5k. HP fell off to about 92% of peak at 7k because of the small turbine housing but the torque curve was absolutely perfect with the 71r setup. Climbed until 6k only going down about 5% at 7k. That was with a couple problems when I dynoed it, too. I could lay in the throttle at 2.5K and by 3K be at 8-10psi. It was the most streetable turbo I have ever had. 82r setup is definitely more peaky but 150% worth it.

The lag is probably 85% responsible to the turbine housing, not the compressor. Its actually a good size turbine which is why I like it, its as small of a turbine you are going to go to without choking out the motor and losing a lot of top end. The 15s turbine is like half the size. Im guessing those setups must really choke out around 4.5-5k. Between my 71 setup and 82 setup I only noticed full boost coming on around 250-500 rpms later depending on the situation.

The problem is the compressor moves toomuch air for the 8 valves to let through

Oh yeah, I didn't realize that could cause that much of a problem. I guess in retrospect I have only boost 4/5 valve motors. Twin turbo setup would be cool, what do you think it will make as is?

It made 205hp and 235lb/ft of torque at the wheels in the 740 @ 18psi with the Max on the hot side, I moved it to the cold side and the car ran much nicer, the guys on turbo bricks with very similar setups are in the 300whp range, I am shooting for that as my goal.

I've spent around 8 -10 hours on this wiring, running through every wire and checking all the pin outs that need signal, pretty darn certain its ready to rock, just need to make some brackets to mount the computers.
Slow on progress, spending most of my free time working on the new house.

Spent some time mounting the intercooler, plenty of room for everything up front. Need to lengthen all the plumbing

I'm amazed at how well it all fits together, took the throttle cable out of the wagon, opened up the hole in the fire wall of the Nova and it works slick as cat #!#!#!#!. Only issue I'm going to have is gages, the 4l60e does not have a cable drive on the tail shaft so the speedo in the car will be useless. If all continues this well I may have a chance at starting it by the weekend.
