    Custom Autobody general inquiries

Scott (Brandywine68rs) at Custom Autobody is happy to answer any questions you might have about painting and body work. Due to the diversity of vehichles and painting options, questions are easier to answer over the phone and in person than trying to deliver a quote over the internet without actually seeing the work involved, a little bit of rust on the outside can turn into major work. Likewise, installing custom tail lights can encompass more than just punching a hole in the sheet metal. A free quote doesn't hold you to us doing the work for you, but when you see our quality and our price you will be hard pressed to go elsewhere.

Trying to find out what kind of booth you guys use. Ive asked about 3 times and even pm'd you also. It seems you dont have an answer.. Its important for the people that want the high dollar paint jobs that you guys advertise. From the pictures on the website it looks to be in a garage and not in an actual booth its self.

Im interested in a paint job myself and was just wondering. thank you.
    hmph.

my shop does become my spray booth with a thorough cleaning and waterd down floor. most all of the base coat clear coat paint jobs are wet sanded and polished so any nibs in the paint do not present a problem. I also do single stage paint jobs on vehicles that people are just trying to get another year or two out of. My camaro will be painted in this same fashion. Sorry for the delay geting back to you im new on the internet.

When done right and the time is put in, I've seen fantastic paint jobs come from a similar setup. It does make a bit more work for the painter, but it can produce the same level of quality.

When I strike it rich my cobalt needs repainted. I'll keep you in mind.

My S10 was painted in Custom Autobody's shop, i'm sure the majority of people on here have seen it on the cruise and noted the quality of the job, High metalic (LeMans Sunset 350Z) and 3+ coats of high quality clear wetsanded and polished. Scott also feathered the body lines in the rear and tail gate as well as did all the plastic work to smooth in the roll pan and blend around the tail light buckets. I have a whole binder of the build from sanding to sheetmetal work to plastic and paint, i will post them up. Sorry i never got back to you EvoX, i figured it would be best for Scott to talk about his setup, It is his business and i'm just the help, my thing is welding and car and engine building.

Thank you for your coments Kidcrash Steve what you said is true it does take more time preping the shop and more time applying the paint but with that in mind and patience it can be done. Give me a call I would be happy to discuss the cobalt with you. Thank you Scott.

How long does it generally take to paint a whole car? Which includes prepping + paint.

The length of time it takes to paint a car depends on which paint system your useing and how big the car is. I have spent over eight hours painting a 1963 spit window corvette useing house of kolors base coat clear coat system. That does not include any masking time. On any car that is masked and ready for sealer and paint you can expect to spend the better part of the day. You must remember thier is flash time between each coat. Taking your time and being patient is very importent. regardless of what you my have heard painting a car is not as simple as it may seem.

Add in time for sanding out little dust specs that may have fallen from the rafters, checking for runs and drips, and it can be a very long process. There is a chance I may see you in a month, possibly will have a settlement by then.
