    1990 Volwoah 745 Tic

    The ultimate rwd sleeper, original turbo failed so i installed a hybrid turbo, hotside is .63 a/r off an older volvo cold side is Turbonetics H trim. Fuel system has been upgraded with pontiac 3.8 litre ssei/gtp injectors (36lb) from the origninal green top 30lb units. Both fuel and ignition computers have "The lost art of" chips in them. Bypass of the original fuel injector ballast for the high rez white injectors. 3 inch turbo back exhaust through a 3 inch Hooker supercomp muffler. Custom plumbing all around.

    Bought back in December of 2009











    The new turbo, saved till the origninal was retired.




    New bushings and chassis braces for a much improved ride









    Old green injector beside the higher output white injector, I machined the groove on the top of the white one for the retainer clip.

    Exhaust manifold had to be cut from flange and rotated 180 degrees making it a top front mount turbo setup, original design would not allow turbo to be mounted without cutting chassis.





    Delta fin 11x28x3 intercooler installed in front of radiator with custon brackets.

      Turbo oil drain made from 3/4 inch 321 stainless steel









      Modified factory oil line splice welded with 1/4 stainless tube. Feeds into stainless swagelock fitting weld plugged and drilled to .06"



      Relocated oil cooler from left side of radiator to in front





      Exhaust heat wrapped due to it rubbing on the radiator hose. You can also see the wastegate reference line.



      Completed engine bay, custom tube taper from 3 inches to 2 1/2 inch into blow off valve tube.





      Modified the intake, moved mass air sensor to charge side to give better throttle response and eliminate the rich spike upon sudden deceleration resulting in engine stumble

        Installed a wideband o2 gauge finally, car runs great up on boost 11:1 a/f ratio, good to know i'm not killing it too quickly

            Nice build man...


            My buddy in ATL has a 740 with a mitsu 16g swap and moves quite well. The best part of it is people never expect a volvo to be remotley quick ever

              It's cheap, reliable, well handling, turbo'd and rear wheel drive and not a status thing, i like doing things that are different, It's more than a little bit of work done to it and i've done all the work myself, it's fun, that's why i do it.

                you had me convinced until you said well handling. Lol. Those cars are quite fun...I remember robs volvos. Really made people go woah...but handling...not so sure. But those mods probably make a big difference.

                  it's by far no S2k but yes with work done to it, it will handle better, there are a couple places where you can get adjustable strut tower mounts and hybrid coil over setups.
