    Do you do exchanges?

I recently bought a set of brand new Firestone Winterforce tires for my Legacy. The car developed a leaky head gasket before I got around to mounting them, and I ditched the Legacy for an Impreza. The tires are too tall for the Impreza, but they're still brand new. I was wondering if I might be able to exchange them for another set in the correct size? The ones I have are 205/70/15. I need 205/60/15.

    Let me know, thanks!

I should add that I'm not asking for this for free. The smaller size is a little more expensive on Tire Rack, so I'd expect to pay a little more for the correct size. I'm just trying to cut my losses on the ones I have.

Will the taller tires fit? If so, I'd run a taller tire!

My apologies for the delayed response, Motostar has been in the midst of a full computer system conversion and we have had our hands full with that.

Regarding running the taller tire, here are the widths, heights, and OD's of the two options.

            205/70R15 SW-8.1, SH-5.6, OD-26.3
            205/60R15 SW-8.1, SH-4.9, OD-24.7

In my professional opinion I do not think they will work, rubbing on turn in and load carrying capacity could be potential issues.

Tire exchanges is not something we typically do on a direct user to Motostar basis. When we exchange winter tires with our dealers it is a mandatory 2 for 1 swap meaning the dealer must purchase 2 non winter tires for every 1 winter tire they wish to return.

If you wanted to exchange your taller winter tires for smaller and purchase a set of all seasons or performance tires for after the winter we would be ok with that. If not, I suggest ebay, or craigslist to move the tires you don't need. I'm happy to provide costing information to help you set the best price to get them sold.

Thanks for your patience, have a great day!

I definitely would have if they were a little closer in size, but I looked at the dimensions before making this thread and agree with Motostar - they're just too tall.

Hmmm. The Impreza has brand new all-seasons already. The SHO has nearly-new tires too, so I really can't justify buying an extra set right now. No room to store them either... Craigslist it is I guess.

              Thanks anyway!
