370Z race car getting punished

The 370 Alex tuned earlier that day put down 297whp and i believe 240wtq with intake cat back and high flow cats.

ya i figured it should put down a good amount more than that... especially with those mods... thats a pretty significant difference in crank and wheel in stock form... not to mention mofified... it should almost definately be over 300 horse and not much less than 300 torque... once again especially with mods...

They only make ~335 at the crank stock. There is not a whole lot to be gained for intake and exhaust. Considering how much you would need to spend to make 300 to the wheels on a 350, that's a great gain. It is making ~40hp more than my car was with the same stuff.

really? i figured they'd have a good amount more..... with those mods i would hope for more than that... then again that is pretty good power for any car...

im looking at it in comparison to my g35.. i made 250 bone stock, it had about 50 more, but started with 30-40 more at the crank.. not too bad of a loss
Me- 298 to 250
370 w/mods- 335 to 297
I wouldve hoped to get more, but its not too bad... granted it means the stuff only gave him like 10whp.. (assuming the 370's have about the same power loss crank to wheels..)

yeah the gains werent amazing but you have to figure all you have to work with is timing and air fuel,its so much harder to pull power out of an already efficent tune.Plus you still have the bottle neck in the stock headers.Kinda like how and sti or evo gains nothing with a cat back but big after doing the tbe.

Yepp and still technically has cats....i will say judging my the race 370 no cats get you places

The intakes on the street car were not worth any power. The race car has 100% stock intake system including OEM paper filter per race rules.

And Alex, since you would be the guy to ask, would it be worth the money for my stepfather to get the intakes for his 370z? They're pretty pricey... But you don't think there is any power gains?

Gains will be minimal. K&N drop in filters will flow as well as an aftermarket intake. Only reason to get them would be for the intake sound, the looks, or if he has a SUPER free flowing exhaust such as headers, catless, and high flow exhaust. Then it may be worth it.
