Well i went to a dyno day a few years ago and it only made 258/267. My IMRCs were stuck shut though. it's kinda like "Vtec" yo. Matty must know what i'm talking about. LOL
They are a second set of runners that open up at 3250 RPMs. They help with HP/Tq in the lower RPMs. And help increase the numbers in the higher RPMs

Yeah we had a member on here with a blue 1997 or 1998 Cobra that had the same problem with the runners. For a quick fix he did something with vice grips or something that open up the runners and the car was night and day difference in power. You've got alot more than 258HP once fixing the runners.
P.S. Matty drives a EVO X, LOL

I can imagine theres a massive difference in power with the IMRC flaps closed. My car is on a tune right now with them closed (so I can break in the clutch without raping it), and the difference between that and an open flap tune is night and day. My cars probably making about 135whp with flaps closed, and probably around 180 with them open. I'd assume given the additional power you're making that it's an even more substantial power increase with the IMRCs working correctly.
Wow rob we agree on the night and day difference- jesus, same time and everything.

Maybe not with your car but with the Cobra just ask James....... I was there before and after the problem of fixing the runners and yes it did make quite a noticable diffference in the car. Is the Focus a different set up or the way that ity work compared to the cobra?

I was agreeing with you? My car has the same IMRC flaps for the same function- and with them closed it makes about half the power as with them tuned open all the time.

dan walker you should be the one not to talk man, an example of this is when Dpawl (USA SUB owner) came on here saying how subarus are gay and suck yada yada and you had a problem with him singling out specific car makes on a general forum. (also some remarks from Evo Matt that you were not thrilled about directed towards Saturns) Not that I care enough to get involved in this drama, but you quoted examples so i figured I would as well.
And to the new guy...why is is that Hondas suck? Because they are economically friendly? Cheap to maintain when you have too at all? And because they are very cheap to mod to be able to run with and run by your so called "bad ass" (98?) mustang? Get real man. Dont come on this site talking #!#!#!#! when you dont know anyone, we here are mainly a family orientated site, and by that i mean we are all generally friends, party together, and hang together outside of car talk and the internet. So dont come all Lou "The Hulk" Ferrigno at us.

I'm retarded I guess I read wrong....
At first I thought you said there was no difference
Then I read the final saying that me and you were right on at the same time.
Then I got confused and didn;t know what to think, lol

lol no with the flaps closed it drives almost like stock...no power anywhere. with the flaps open it just wants to rev, i literally couldnt drive it without slipping the clutch (still on breakin) and had to reload the closed flap tune.
