I know how that is, spun #3 cylinder in my forester twice. #!#!#!#! sucks. Used motor can't be to expensive for one of those?

the issue is all the used motors are 100k miles and still $2k crate motor is $4300 and I've heard is an 11 hour job to get the motor out because entire front end need to come apart with the subframe and the tranny which is above my level so say $2k for labor so its a $6k job atleast :-( and I owe $6k on it... time to cut my losses

That's what I was thinking. I still need to find a spot to keep her in the interim.

I've never done much engine work before more than oil changes and spark plugs so it seems a bit daunting. Not really sure how much damage I did seeing as a I drove her without oil for quite a ways and drove it with the knock for atleast 10 miles....I really didn't do the motor any favors.


I guess the first step will be pulling the motor anyways to see what the actual damage is.....

nope, I actually have to call the shop that she's stuck at and see what I can work out because I don't have the time/space/money to do anything for a while.

Ride hieght too low, driver mirror cracked, exhaust leak, side marker light out (which its not) and the reverse lights (which is because they are wired to a switch because the switch inside the transmission doesn't work)

F***ing stealerships


So I took it to my buddy's guy who passed it last year and he claimed the exhaust was too loud and wouldn't even look at it even though he's passed it the last four years with the same setup. The headers, cat and muffler are all 50 state legal....




So if anyone has a guy please let me know!

so slap on a different muffler and have him pass it then you can always switch back after its stickered

1) I don't have a different muffler
2) I am absolutely flat broke and the stealership only wanted $15.....i should have known better
3) I'm still flat broke

how does that work? I tried asking around noone seems to know. I even called DMV and Dept of Safety and noone could give me an answer.....
