    Another VTEC Guy

Whats up, my name is Ethan. Just got handed down my dad's 08 Honda Accord Coupe since he just upgraded to a new WRX. I was rocking an 04 SAAB 9-3 but the mileage is up there (235,000) and things are really starting to let go on it, not that the Honda has much less mileage (215,000). The car is 100% stock as of now and I'm debating what my plan for it is going to be. I'm thinking I'll turn it into a "daily driver" track day car over the next couple years. Although I've got my dads SCCA Acura Integra waiting for a new motor and freshening up since its been sitting for 6 years due to any extra income going to college tuition for me, my older bro, and soon to be my younger bro. So not sure how much I'll invest into the Accord with a pretty much track ready car sitting in the garage. Also have an 84 Porsche 944 sitting in the garage that needs a little TLC to get running again. With what little expendable income I'll have left after paying for my last year of school, I'm hoping to start putting some stuff on the car to make it a bit more fun to drive around. Pics of the car to come when I get a chance.

Sounds like a lot of planning. My 94 accord made it to 320k before it was taken off of the road...and it didn't die because of mechanical issues...it was because someone hit my friend that was driving it, totaling the car.

The 944 would make a great autox or track car when you get to it.

A lot of planning indeed. But I have plenty of time to figure out what each car needs since I've got one last year of college before I start working.

We had a 91 Accord that had around 210,000 miles before my dad got a company pick up. Everything was still running in tip-top shape. As far as I know the only issues were that the exhaust rusted through and fell off which was replaced and I believe we had to replace the fuel filter.

My dad loved driving the 944 when he was doing Porsche Club DE days. He said the handling was simply amazing. Unfortunately he put that car away when he moved on to SCCA club racing which was before I got license so I have yet to drive it. Definitely tempted to do the track days with that but as everybody knows, Porsche parts are hideously expensive. I think my dad just wants to get it back to running form again so he can go on nice Sunday drives.

Haha I don't think I'll ever be a die hard Honda guy Sean. I'm just a car guy in general from Miatas to Bugattis to Camaros, I love cars. However I'm a racing guy and Honda's have a proven track record in the SCCA. They handle incredibly well on the track for a front wheel drive car.

Yeah I'm pretty pumped about the Accord. The Saab was nice but too many things were starting to go wrong between the clutch and the 4th gear popping out. Not to mention most recently the plug coils are going causing an awful misfire. Not worth the money to keep it going for another 10,000 miles. I really wanted to get a manual boost controller, straight pipe exhaust, and some for of ECU tuning and just crank the boost and see how hard she'd pull. Maybe out pull the G... I think the clutch would have spit out the bellhousing on the first full throttle pull though lol I think we're gonna try and get Gary's Saab over in Concord to buy it off of us for a couple hundred bucks for a parts car since its got practically brand new front struts and springs and the rest of the car is in decent shape.

I'll try and snap a few pics of the Accord after work today. The other two cars are gonna have to wait a little as I'm currently living and working in Boston and have no plans of going back up to NH this weekend or during the week next week.

Oh yeah I suppose I should mention that Sean, his brother Chris and I all graduated together from the same high school. We lived less than a quarter mile apart and didn't know it until like junior year. And we all share the exact same birthday.
