Thanks all... Its quite a ride, took years of trading up and a very patient and understanding wife to realize the dream.
CAV GT40s are replicas of the original cars but not kit cars. They are factory built cars delivered or exported from South Africa complete and painted minus engine and transaxle. I am told this car was bought by an English gent that ordered it to race in GB. That deal apparently fell through and the car was offered to the then North East USA CAV rep. He built and installed the motor and a new transaxle. The specs on the motor are approx 485hp/450ft lbs torque. One of these days I will dyno it. For the mean time, it runs awesome, the webers perfectly tuned and CRAZY fast.
I have not had the chance to get it on a road course yet, but hope to get it over to Watkins Glen this summer. For other venues, my M3 is hard to beat and... it meets those pesky sound requirements!

Okay funny story, I was watching american top gear today and there was a segment on these..weird. Anywayssss, welcome! I saw your comments on fb and was like wait...gt40..wait..holy cow. can't wait to.see this thing, but if the weather doesn't want to cooperate, I suppose the old M will have to do.
