    Another Supra Owner Signing In

I have been lurking around Southern NH for the past two years. In the winter I usually drive a Civic and the Summer an 87 Supra turbo targa top.

I got the car from my brother who bought it new. I got to drive this before it was even fully broken in. Now it is fairly thrashed. It has 127K miles on the odometer - but lived most of it's life in New York city and it shows.

I have had the car for three years now and have been fixing a lot of little stuff - windshield wipers, fog lights, speakers, Scion MP3 Head Unit, AC. The biggest thing I took on so far was new valve cover gaskets (3 for this puppy.) It is functionally restored now to stock specs.

My plans now are bodywork, followed by approximately 400 rwhp using the fairly standard upgrade path these cars present. Catback, ic hard pipes, upgraded turbo, lex AFM, 550cc injectors, downpipe & elbow.

    Some more pics:

    The bodywork:

Unknown struts replaces the TEMS - actuators are gone.

Rim rash - my bad (looking to get the 17" rims from the MKIV Supra)

Well, that is it for now. My wife drives the Land Cruiser in the foreground of the pic above. I am trying to get a GS300 AWD for her so I can take the Cruiser as my winter vehicle.

first of all welcome to the forum. we have a few guys one here that i'm sure can help you out. with what you will need or want to get it where you want it. for wheels and tires check out motostar in the vendor section sure they can help you get something nice for it. mystery struts look like they could be kyb gr-2. good luck with the project and keep us updated. try to make it out to some meets to see some faces too.

Welcome to the site from a fellow supra owner. If you need ideas or help, don't hesitate to ask.

I pretty much went the route you're talking about. I took one step beyond the lexus afm, and went with a VPC to eliminate the afm. It's tuned at 402rwhp, 408 tq with stock internals on my built auto. You're in for a lot of fun

Thanks everyone. I am looking forward to using several of the sponsors here. One of them in my very town does bodywork - I think I'll drop them a PM.

OVRBST - I have been eying your site for a while. I will probably drop by when you are all set up. That Z looks awesome. Growing up we had some nice cars in the drive. My brother with this Supra, my sister with an 82 RX7 and myself with a 78 280Z. I am looking forward to see what your Z becomes.

supra0089 - I am sure I will have a bunch of questions along the way.

Being a homeowner, husband, father of 2 and working for a company that has not even met cost of living wage increases for the past 8 years - it might take me a while to get this completed but I am determined. Looking forward to getting to a meet too.

Did you copy my life bio somewhere? haha

Don't worry man, take it in stages. That's the great thing about the 7m...you can build it piece by piece and not break your wallet by having to do it all at once.

If you havnt' done it already, put a headgasket on there first, get the rest of the car running in tip/top shape...and then find the build stages that work for you. If you want to check out my build...year by year...check out my build on supramania. It's a cost effective way to do it for sure...especially since you're working on a tight budget.

Good point with the head gasket - I will plan to do this first along with the timing belt. Long story short - my brother is not around anymore and I didn't get full history before he left. These could have been done for all I know - in the earlier years, say pre-2000, he gave this thing top-notch care.

With the head gasket - as I understand I should go full metal but what is the likelihood that I will need to finish the head & block before doing it? I will definitely check out your thread on SM too...
