Jon's 1989 ToyotaSupra Turbo
Introduction:
I first fell in love with the MK3 Supra when I was in high school over a decade ago. I bought a pearl white turbo and enjoyed driving her for almost 2 years…until the dreaded blown headgasket syndrome hit her. Being a high school student, going to college, there was no way I could financially keep her. I cried (only a little) when I sold her, and made a promise to myself that one day I would again own an MK3 Supra, treat her right, and build her strong.
I bought this Supra in 2007 from the original owner in South Carolina with 90k miles. Even though she was rust-free, she came with a lot of issues. Based on a ton of research and a lot of advising, I came up with a five year plan to build my dream summer-daily driver; a MA70 SUPRA with enough power to make her respected on the road, but also built to last.
Fast forward five years; now I’ve nearly completed my build. Every part, hose, belt, line, sensor, etc. etc. is either upgraded or brand new. Every modification was picked with the intention of only reaching 400 to 450rwhp. This power range is ideal for my driving style, and my build’s reliability. The motor and tranny were actually built to hold nearly twice that much power, with the hope that it will last a very long time (ideally forever ).

o James and Tom at Fujii-SPL for getting me started with most of the fabrication work.
o Giles at Holy Roller Dyno for helping me understand why tuning is such a pain in the A$$
o Wayne and Tori at Russel's Transmission for building my nasty tranny, and always helping me in a pinch.
o Alex at Granite State Dyno and Tune, for the tuning, late night over-the-phone tune adjustments, and always coming through to “help a brother out.”
o My family (mostly my lovely wife) for putting up with my frequent mood swings that are tied directly to how the supra is running
