The April, 2008 car of the month is 4spds4evr's 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
This car is one of 8,346 Cutlass Supreme Town Sedans produced in the 1967 model year, making it the rarest of the 4-door hardtops. Base price was $2,726.00. (!)
It has the following options, with the price in 1967 dollars and RPO codes (taken from the car's original build sheet):
-L74 330-cubic inch High Compression (10.25:1) 4-barrel Rochester carbureted V8, 320 horsepower. - $33.70
-M33 Super Turbine Jetaway two-speed automatic transmission, with a dual-speed stall converter. - $205.37
-P01 14" full wheel discs - $16.85
-U28 Ash tray lamp - free
-A02 Soft-ray tinted windshield - $21.06
-B32,33 - Front and rear auxiliary floormats - $ 13.00
-B34 - Floor covering (carpet) - $6.32
-B80 - Chrome drip rail moldings - $12.64
-B85 - Chrome side window moldings - $18.43
-G91 - 3.23:1 rear axle differential gearing, open differential
-P28 - 7.75" x 14" whitewall tires - $31.60
-Y60 - Light convenience package (glove campartment, underhood, and trunk lamp lights) - $6.32
-Y68 - Body side and wheel-opening chrome moldings - $31.60
-U63 - Deluxe AM pushbutton radio, one dash-monted speaker - $64.25
I was given the car in 2007 in non-running condition. I have since converted the points distributor to GM HEI ignition, changed the spark plugs and wires, installed later Oldsmobile SSIII rallye wheels with 205/70/R14 tires, installed front shocks and tie rods and bearings, and had a mandrel-bent 2 1/4" dual exhaust with Cherry Bomb glasspacks installed, to replace the factory single exhaust. The car is a time capsule, with original paint and original interior, and only (as of now) 71,000 documented miles on the odometer. I am the third owner of the car. It is driven as often as possible, and is a blast to drive, even with 4-wheel manual drum brakes and sagging 41-year old springs!
