I just got the most bull#!#!#!#! ticket in the league...

So im driving home tonight, and i hit a massive pothole in the road which caused my headlights to shut off. (as far as i can tell rain got knocked into my headlights because the little rubber boots aren't on)

I quickly turned my high beams on which worked...and proceeded to get pulled over by the cop sitting infront of me.

She asked me where i was going and i said "home to fix my headlights that just shut off". she takes my license and reg. and while im sitting there waiting my lights turn back on. hmm weird?

Anyway she comes back and gives me a "equiptment violation" ticket. WHAT THE HELL.

here's my issue.

i had my high beams on - legal
no cars passed me in the 200 feet i drove to pull over. - legal to use highs
the lights dried out and are now working fine - legal

how in the hell can i get a ticket for as far as i can tell...DOING NOTHING WRONG?!

is this the same as a "defective equip. tag" because the law says i have 72 hours to show a correction of said defect. or am i screwed?

i'm heated. grr.

yeah thats iffy, im not sure why/ how she could give you a ticket for it, maybe to prove its not faulty? or will happen again

I got tickets like that all the time lol. just bring it to a job tell them you want to check your headlights but you got a ticket. They will tell you everythings fine, bring that to court, and bam. That's all there is too it, it's not like to got an illegally modified ticket like me.

dude.. if its a equipment violation just bring it by the police station and tell them you fixed it. most of the time they don't even check, and if its fixed then you have nothing to worry about. if you didn't get a fine then i wouldn't be so worried about it. same thing happened to me in my 4runner where the connection was bad in the left rear tail light, i got stopped for it, got a citation for failed equipment, fixed it the next day. brought it by the station with the ticket and the guy at the desk was like "oh. ok. thanks" and i left. didn't look or ask me anything.
