I was watching the Mass news a few weeks ago and they were having a similar issue. Tons of cars in a neighborhood were getting their OEM wheels ripped off.

Guess they figure unmodified cars have a better chance of not having an alarm.

Not really, scrap prices have tanked. It is only 45 cents a lb or so, depending on the place.

You could hock them for more then the weight will fetch you at a scrap yard

OEM wheels are quite expensive these days. Are they Enkei wheel such as Acura comes with?

Well in my honest opinion he is not buying them as scrap then. If you look online you can find the whole sale price for scrap, and any good scrapper will pay you less then that so he can make money. It was really high around the middle of last summer, up over a dollar a pound. Now depending on the grade it is around 50 cents a pound. 4 30lb wheels would only bring in about 60 bucks or less.

Current prices. This site is just easy to read but other sites agree with it.
