    Charity Meets

So folks, this is an idea thats been tossed around for a while, and Neal and I had a long chat on this last night. Were thinking with Christmas coming up it would be a great idea for not only the community but for some site recognition to throw a Toys For Tots show. Organizing this will probably easier than it sounds. Im asking for input from all sides to see where we can go for this.
For starters, we already have some connections were gonna go through to pull some cars. Anybody else you can wrangle in is welcome. Were basically looking for a location (Longhorn parking was discussed, yknow that wide open spot nobody ever parks in?), sponsors, and a way to get a ton of food, shirts, stickers, tables, perhaps tents, banners, and prizes.
This is a work in progress and hopefully the first in a long line of charity events so drop us some ideas!

being that its middle of october, it'll probably be a little harder than you think for organizing, i for one am all for it. but how you gonna have a show if it's snowing?????? i'm sure the sponsors thing would be easy being there are plenty of local peole we could easily corral into it and shops of all kinds. food isn't a problem, we got intervention lol. shirts and stickers are gonna be the only thing that'll be paid out alot for. tables and tents can be easily arranged and gotten no problem. banners could be at the sponsors discretion and prizes, well i don't know.

We talked about alot but basic is, we want a low cost charity car show. We need a location, sponsors to donate money for trophies and with more money means more categories for winning (not trying to make any money our selves). We were think of doing it mid to end of next month. Entry fee to enter your car into the show would be a toy or $5 to buy toys nothing crazy.

rather then this show, just put together a TFT paypal account, so that members see it. setup a few collection cans in diffrent shops, ect for sponsors, just have them make a donation to the cause. design a bunch of proposals and letterheads for thanks and support. and when the time comes. take a trip to wally mart.and go shopping for the kids. for me i just put my car away for the winter. never was a car show guy. but i wouldnt have an issue with just giving a donation. seems simple a task, over a rushed show in the cold. just my .02 take it however.

I agree with Joe. Its a good idea and all but I think donations would be a lot easier. If your gonna do a show why not set it up for next Summer? That gives you plenty of time to plan things out and get everything all set. And with the warm weather people will most likely want to attend.

                  A) Christmas is right around the corner
                  B) Theres some good weather left. Ask Sunday and Monday about that.
                  C) I for one would be more likely to run to walmart and buy a transformer than paypal to some random website.

well fyi it's gonna be hard as hell and i can GUARANTEE no one's gonna wanna show a car at winter time, most people i know with 'show' cars are already put away or will be in november. all bikes are pretty much away if not on their way. it's just gonna be a crappy turnout having a show in winter time. if it were florida we'd be set obviously, but not nh, especially with the way our weather is. sure sunday and monday wil be nice lol, but how bout 8 weeks from now???

it would be nice to get something together, but i think spring time we'll be the time. if we had more than just one sponsor to the site i'd say go around and collect toys from them and from the members on the board here. then deliver them to TFT or whatever charity. won't get much more than that for christmas time.

if there was a show i whould go to help no prob, but the time is not so good it seems like some thing you dont whant to rush or it will not go at all the way it should.

the idey is great and for x-mas even better, so for this year i whould try to collect money and give the money or buy the toys and plan it out better for next year.
