    Lower Level Customs/NeMotorSport.com Car Show August 14-16

    Hey all,

    As some of you may know we hit up Stadium Ten Pin in Manchester last night (1/3) and had a great time bowling. We also had a chance to talk a little about where the forum is going and things that we'd all like to participate in in the future. My club, Lower Level Customs, is interested in hosting a car show this August. We're a club primarily of minitruckers (75% or so) and are looking to get some car guys to this show (but anyone's welcome).

    The president of LLC, Jason Kingsbury, owns a landscaping business whose clientele (among others) includes the Weirs Beach Lobster Pound in Laconia, NH. For those of you that aren't familiar with that name, it's the venue that Laconia Bike Week is hosted at every year, right down on the boardwalk and in that area. We have access to the entire area. It's for this reason that we've chosen to host the show there.

    We'd like some input from you guys as to what you think a reasonable entrance fee is for the show (and no, free isn't an option) and we could really use help getting some sponsors together (partial or otherwise) for the show. We need the basic groundwork for trophies, food, drinks, and music. Anything involving that is a big help and rest assured your company/organization will be included in a banner or flyer to receive some notoriety. Other sponsors are also more than welcome.

    Additionally, we'd like some opinions on what classes there should be for the show (as it'll mostly be a show and shine) and what other contests there should be. Some of the contests I've seen are high/low, airbag/hydraulics, burnout contest (need to check on legalities there...), etc. and non-car events such as swimsuit contest, pizza eating, pie eating, milk drinking, and other club-oriented events.

    It looks like we're off to a good start and we're hoping this show will really get the word out for . LLC has access to minitruckers all across the eastern seaboard and we're hoping after a year or two this will become a memorable and enjoyable show for all with considerable interest from across the U.S.

    Thanks in advance for your input .

    yep, sounds good to me.

    help with ideas:
    ::trivia over a loudspeaker (we did it up here at a show, and it was wicked fun) with some small prizes
    ::a 50/50 for money for the club(s)
    ::dash plaques/window decals (we use Daytona Trophy) with each payed entrance into the show (not spectators, just show vehicles)
    ::raffles of any kind
    ::as for classes: it depends on how many vehicles you plan on having (guesstimate) but; probably manufacturers separations among types of cars (trucks: ford/dodge/chevy/nissan/etc.) (AWD/RWD/FWD: ford/dodge/chevy/toyota/etc.)---just ideas, more help is better than less
    ::help with food, let me know, i cater (quick food-burgers/dogs/sausages/snacks/salads-good stuff for a show) 4+ times a year, been doin it for 6 years.

    other than that, hammah down boys, sounds like a sweet plan to me!

      Sounds like fun. What about parking, I will most likly trailer the car there so I would have to find a place for the jeep the justy and the trailer (unless I put both in the show lol). Uggg more and more events, gonna be on the road a lot this year.

          Yeah whatever cars want to show is fine, looking for a good mix of everything and anything, old to new, etc. We just need to have as many entrants as possible finalized a few weeks before so we can organize the classes--ex. if we have no classic cars then we won't have a classic category, etc.

          Tyler to answer your question we have access to a few dirt lots that are used as parking areas for spectators along with the normal parking areas along weirs (parking metered spots). The show itself (I believe) is on a dirt lot but the lot itself is very level and easy to get around in. I'll continue posting details as I can, and I'm trying to get Jason to sign up so he can throw in his $.02.

            Sounds like a good plan out so far the Catagorys you have for cars are pretty much basic with every other show so thats good.... Contest are always good....

            just a few things i would change IMO- Burnout contest i wouldnt do that you would need a EMT there and Cops or some form of Securtity to keep people away from the cars, but it just seems like to much of a Hassle you know one little kid gets away and runs infront of the car that can end it the fun quick...or you get a tire to just Explode and hit some one in the crowed yeah not great so i would X that out of the show

            Maybe Change a few of the Car classes up- maybe Change the Chevy to GM 2 and 4 door, because last year at importwars they had a Best Cavailer/Cobalt and there was only 1 cavailer and 1 cobalt so that means i could have brought my 1996 POS dd and won something haha, and then they had every other GM car in one catagory which kind of sucked for some people...

            Best Import Best Domestic? and of course Best of show, but what you should do for best of show is, have every one vote who is at the show for it??

            i mean there are so many Diffirent Catagorys for the show you can do you really cant go wrong i guess hah

            as for the Entrance fee well you cant go wrong with Free but like you said you wont be doing that, i say $5-10 is the Norm for shows it seems unless your going to Importwarzzzzzzz NoMOREopi

            Well what ever you plan on doing im sure it will be fun and hopefully we can get more shows going on this summer be neat to have one every couple of weeks all around the state?? cause i know im always around the Hampton/portsmouth area and there are enough cars that would show up for something

              As far as the voting goes, should everyone present be allowed to vote, or just those that entered their cars? Or have a few small categories that anyone can vote in, and the rest be for those that entered?

              We are also going to need volunteers to help set up and run things. While we don't need them yet, it would be nice to know who might be willing to help.

              Matty, how big exactly are the lots? The last thing we would want to happen is to run out of space, especially if we have people coming from out of state. I can't remember the last time I was up there, so I'm not sure how much room there really is.

                      Wow, I'm glad people are all for this. Feels good to have such a positive vibe to it this early on.

                      Losted, valid point on x'ing the burnout contest...it's just an awesome thing to watch and it's more fun than a lot of the other events I've seen.

                      If it's anything like COTM then having the entrants vote is no good UNLESS we were to add the stipulation that we couldn't vote for our own cars. I suppose that'd be easy enough. I'm thinking the entrance fee will depend entirely on the amount of entrants and sponsorships that we get. The profits will be donated to a charity, still working out which one. Justin, not sure on square footage of the lots or anything but sufficed to say they are huge, all of the vendor tents for bike week are usually set up there so there's plenty of room for everything. Keep the suggestions coming, sounds great so far!

                        Ya def ax the burnout comp I don't know about anyone else but its fun for about 20min then gets old and smells.

                        The whole best of class stuff is dumb IMO. Why everything have to be a contest??? No matter what someone gets butt hurt. Do some raffles, eat some food, look at cars and hang with friends that's all.

                          hey guys,
                          Ok so parking is not a problem at all. we have a total of 3 lots including the show lot. The show lot itself would be comparable to the entire show field at NE dragway (and maybe a bit larger) so not a problem parking a few hundred show rides.
                          The plan for the show would make it a weekend long event. Friday would be just a get together for anyone around to do whatever (Wiers Beach has a drive in theatre, arcades, water parks, go carts, mini golf, bars, and a beach) saturday would be the "show" consisting of the judging part. Of course venders and what not going on and live bands. Saturday night we could hold a neon light competition as well as possible other events. Sunday would be trophies in the afternoon along with events such as the ones Matty (polarisman14)described (surely no smoke show contest due to NH's finest having to play a role in security) but they would include club activities as well as food eating and more.
                          The number of classes would be determined by the number of sponsers willing to cover trophies, but all classes will be covered.
