Could you elaborate? Waterfest hasn't been a decent show since I remember hearing about it. Waterfest is VW ricefest, Mk1 madness was last weekend in PENN I.couldn't make it but it was probably way better then waterfest.

Water fest is nothing like H2OI.... H2o is for real dubbers that just want to have a great time and hang out... Hope you have a good time when you go through.. I remember when i went to my first VW show in Maryland... It was sick... I stayed for the whole week leading to H2O....

2nd year there, mk5's are getting popular. mk2's are dying out. YUCK! mk2 is sooooo much more manly.

What he meant to say that MOST mk4 and mk5 owners are young cats...and they are posers.


Many of which have never wrenched on anything in their lives and couldn't distinguise between a 16v or an 8v,don't know what a rocco is to them a rabbit is a mk5 4 dr golf.


But it is very sad...the days when people went to shows to find great quality parts, and to see restorations of scirocos,mk1's and mk2's are long over. It's a different ball game now..


+10 yrs changes the game. dubbers were more friendly back then...mainly because there was less of us! I still remember the excitement in seeing another hooked up mk1 or mk2 on the road....honking and even stopping to talk to the guy.


Now every "cool" kid in high school has a mk4 or mk5, they in ther game for the wrong reasons.


Most of us older people are in the dubscene because we grew up with mk1's and mk2's or even mk3's. Our neighbors, brothers,cousins and friends...had em and loved them.We still remember when NEW ones roamed the streets....


We loved being that oddball at local gtg's and we were part of an elite group that somehow has exploded into a plethora of people that scorn clean original daily driven 25+ year old cars...and praise anything with 40k worth of mods.


dam..I still remember driving to long island,CT and to pA for a GTG. Now theres 20 gtg's 5 times a week less than 30 min from my house here in jersey.


Waterfest is done for...its too expensive to show your car and get bombed by bad judging. A spot to sell "used" parts was $75...thats rediculous...and the reason vendors don't have good deals is because they have to break even on the spot first.


I don't care what car you drive if you a true vdub owner...and another vdub honks...honk back...respect traditions, know and learn the history of Vw and most of all love your car, not becuase it gets you laid...or makes you cool with your skating or bmx buddies but because its a pleasure to drive...

But in all seriousness, I'm sure it can still be a good time as long.as your there with friends . That's what.it all.about , nice cars and good friends . If I had the time and money I might go.
