How to re-grease inverted STI struts

    I'll be doing mine soon

Pictures are missing but give the OEM grease code.

    this one has good pictures

This write up shows how to install a grease fitting so you won't have to take them off the car to regrease them.

Did my rears last night with help from Dagazenterprise . Seemed to have fixed the issue nicely . Tub of grease from advanced was $8 . Much cheaper then replacing anything. Job was very easy , unbolt , remove old grease, pack in New grease and re assemble. Took about an hr to do both sides, doing it on the ground with a floor jack.

Basically do to the.lack of grease the strut will get hung up and not able to move up and down properly. Mine would get stuck up, so when I came to a stop the.rear would then drop a sec or 2 later. Every night when I back into my driveway they would drop. And it was usually one after.the other not together. Just gets really.annoying.

Just do it, its super easy. And doesn't require anywhere near as much grease as the.pictures in the second link above did. He greased the bump stop and the strut center shaft , and no point putting any on the outside of the strut cause it will all come off when you slide it in.

There are 2 pockets that hold grease . And small one at the Gerry top and a larger one just below it . I just made suite those were.nice and full. Slide the bump stop in and then threw some more in for Thor measure.

Oh yea, also cut a inch or so off the bump stops.

The old stuff more like a paste, you could make a sculpture with it.

I clicked on this thread because I was very confused why you would use grease to rebuild inverted shocks. Then I looked at the pictures for a bit, still confused as #!#!#!#!. Then I realized that these "inverted shocks" are not like normal inverted shocks.
